New Creation
Dr. Randy Johnson

Benjamin Franklin said, “Introduce into public affairs the principles of Christianity and it will change the face of the world.” Christianity not only changes the life of an individual, but it can also change a nation. There are several verses about the affect righteousness has on a people:

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!” Psalm 33:12

“By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is overthrown.” Proverbs 11:11

“When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan.” Proverbs 29:2

“When the wicked increase, transgression increases, but the righteous will look upon their downfall.” Proverbs 29:16

“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.” Psalm 127:1

On a side note: Our founding fathers held to the fact that God created everything, not to the assumption of evolution. It is seen regularly in the writings, even the Declaration of Independence.

Genesis 1:1 says so much, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” It is also important to understand the value of Genesis 1:26-27, “Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.’” Our founding fathers knew we were created by God. This should help how we treat each other and how we view ourselves.

In 2 Corinthians 5:17, we are reminded of what it means to be a Christian,

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” Our founding fathers expected people to act differently because of their faith.
